Women in Foreign Policy launched September 2014 to provide girls and young women aspiring to a career in foreign policy with practical career advice from women already working in the field. Each interview is seen as a mini mentoring session covering everything from the practicalities of a particular job's application process to navigating a given field while female. Every week, we receive heartwarming emails from students and women working on the next step of their career explaining how our interviews gave them the tools they needed to succeed.
FOREIGN POLICY AT LARGE | From diplomacy to NGOs, from the private sector to academia, we cover all foreign policy players. We believe that for foreign policy to evolve and be successful, it needs to be representative of society, so we make sure to include women of colour and LGBTQI women in our page. We are currently working on a series featuring disabled women.
WORKSHOPS | Last year, we launched career workshops. Lead by our founder Lucie Goulet, they cover recurring career lessons learnt from the interviews and can be tailored to a professional or student audience. We have so far delivered it at the Foreign Office, the British Embassy in Paris, Burberry and London universities King's College, UCL and SOAS.
SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS | Our team is available for speaking engagements, and we will gladly make introductions with the women interviewed on this website. Our founder Lucie Goulet has previously spoken about British military intervention and the war in Iraq at the Changing Britain Festival at London's Southbank Centre and on including more women in foreign policy at Chatham House.
CAREER NETWORK DINNERS | Come along to one of our monthly Career Network Dinners with women from across the foreign policy field. These are intimate, informal dinners with no more than fifteen guests allowing you to really get to know the guest and ask all your questions. Take a look at our events page or our Facebook page for more details on the upcoming dinners.
WiFP BOOKCLUB | What better way to learn about and be inspired by strong, successful women than by reading about them? If you agree then come and join our bookclub! We aim to read a book each month relating to women in leadership - their style, success and story. We have a physical meeting in London at the end of each month as well as an international discussion point in the form of our Goodreads page. We welcome all and look forward to delving into the world of female leaders with you!
