Angela Muruli - Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer

Driven by her passion for gender equality and women’s empowerment, Angela is a multi-faceted and dynamic development practitioner with vast experience in project management, impact-orientated communication strategies, and young women’s transformational leadership. She has a Bachelor’s in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Essex and a Master’s in Global Health and Development from University College London (UCL). Whilst doing her MSc, Angela also led on campaigns to end gender-based violence in the UK and East Africa as part of the African Diaspora-led nonprofit, FORWARD.

Currently, Angela works with the UN Women Nigeria Country Office as a Junior Programme Analyst (UNV) on increasing women’s political participation and representation in Nigeria. Her experiences so far have extended to leading digital media campaigns including the #HeForSheAtHome campaign and supporting UN Women’s flagship Generation Equality campaign. She is committed to learning from and supporting the next generation of women leaders in development and has served as a mentor in the Women in International Affairs Network (WIAN)’s mentorship Scheme. She recently founded Fine In Dev; a network connecting Black women working the global development space and aimed at increasing their visibility and career progression in the sector.

Angela joins WiFP as one of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officers with a keen interest in addressing barriers in career progression of Black women and national staff in international development organisations. She is also particularly interested in equity and diversity in relation to women from lower socio-economic backgrounds entering and advancing within foreign policy.
